⁠Both killed off main characters/heroes (Iron Man and Ironhide, they even both have “iron” in their name).

⁠Both possess an extremely deadly weapon that can easily turn the tide of battle in their favor (Infinity Gauntlet VS Cosmic Rust Gun).

⁠Both lead an alien invasion (Outrider attack on Wakanda, Decepticons siege on Chicage).

Thanos wanted to wipe out half of all life so resources wouldn’t be depleted, Sentinel wanted to use Earth’s resources to rebuild Cybertron

⁠Additionally, their goals involved resources.

⁠They are well-intentioned extremists, had good intentions but were achievable through inhumane means (Thanos wanted to eliminate half of all life, Sentinel wanted to enslave humanity to rebuild Cybertron and ensure his race’s survival).

⁠They’re aliens of major importance (Sentinel Prime is a Cybertronian, a Prime and the mentor and predecessor to Optimus Prime, Thanos is a powerful Titan who’s also part-Eternal, who sought the Infinity Stones and makes various essential appearances throughout the MCU leading to Infinity War).⁠Thanos and Sentinel Prime wield similar weapons, a large, double-edged blade.

⁠They are very compelling, deep, and even philosophical villains and characters especially for a live action adaptation of a series known for having terrible villains (MCU clearly did not have a good start with their villains, Bayformers obviously isn’t known for having deep or compelling characters to begin with).
